During the year, the Centre has been actively involved in representing the interests of member organisations in various forums, including the Protecting Victoria’s Vulnerable Children Inquiry and through meetings with DHS and government representatives.
Our report this year has much to say about the Protecting Victoria’s Vulnerable Children Inquiry. Launched in early 2011, the Inquiry provided a unique opportunity for the sector to present vital and diverse perspectives on how we can better work to improve outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and their families.
This year, engagement with our members and the broader sector suggested itself as a theme immediately when reflecting on a busy, inclusive and collaborative program of working together to focus on key issues.
The Protecting Victoria’s Vulnerable Children Inquiry was announced as part of the Coalition election platform for the 2010 Victorian State election.
When the Victorian Government announced the Protecting Victoria’s Vulnerable Children Inquiry in January 2011, the Centre took the opportunity to use social media to inform and engage the community services sector about this major inquiry.

The Centre, in partnership with the Alfred Felton Research Chair, presented the inaugural 2010 symposium on 3 December, showcasing the work of six organisations and their evaluation strategies.
The Centre finished the year with a surplus of $95,305, representing 3.4 per cent of total revenue. The surplus was achieved through favourable results in the Learning and Development business unit, strong membership renewals as well as successful control of expenditure across all Centre activities.
